Tour Championship Preview

Pittsburgh PA: The culmination of twelve long months of golf has come down to the final weekend of the year… and the Tour Championship.   East Lake Golf Club is once again the site of the Tour Championship, which its been the finishing tournament site since the Playoffs began back in 2005. The Final 30 players of the Fed Ex Cup Race will battle on the oldest golf course in Atlanta Georgia in order to claim this years prize.

Every Tee Time this week includes a player or two that could win this tournament.  East Lake will be a fun final test once again for the best players in the world which will in turn provide a great final weekend of the season.   When you look at the list of the final 30, consistency is the biggest factor in getting to this great weekend and winning is not always a prerequisite

When you look at players like Tony Finau, Tiger Woods, and  Rickie Fowler whom have not won this season, they have used consistent good play by hanging around the top 10 week after week to put themselves into position.

There are also many players that have won just once this season, but have 5-10 top ten finishes to go with that single win to power them into position.  That group includes Phil Mickelson, Rookie Aaron Wise, and  Billy Horschel just to name a few.

Then there are those that have won several times this season that come in primed to finish the season off with a bang.   Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, and Bubba Watson have both won several times this season.

Then there is Justin Rose, who will start with Bryson this week and whom has won twice and been incredibly consistent throughout the season.  He has not only competed at a high level in the weekly tournaments but his play in the Majors has also been inspiring. His overall play has been exemplary.

This week will be one of the best finishes in the history of golf, especially when you step back and consider the entire field.   What a way to finish leading into the Ryder Cup the following week!

I truly hate taking chalk in any tournemtn, but I don’t see a scenario where Bryson DeChambeau or Justin Rose don’t win the Fed Ex Cup and or this week.  Although, I have been predicting Tony Finau to win for weeks and it would be amazing to see him finish the season with the Tour Championship and the Fed Ex Cup Championship.  Especially when you consider he was the final Captains Pick to play in the Ryder Cup next week.

If Tiger were to win, it would be the biggest upset in Golf in recent memory.  Although we should never call a Tiger Win an upset, what he has had to do and what he has accomplished is nothing short of spectacular.

As my long shot, I have the Rookie Aaron Wise.  He is a great young player that has a win under his belt and has proven to be very consistent week after week.
