Justin Rose Claims First Round Lead in Boston

PGA Tour Coverage Presented by The Tri State PGA.

Justin Rose carded a first round 6-under to take the lead at the Dell Technologies Championship.   He is being closely chased by Abraham Ancer and Russell Knox both at 5-under.

While Rose, Ancer, and Knox lead after day 1, the Points leaders are hanging close behind.   Dustin Johnson sits at 3-under while Bryson DeChambeau finished at 1-under.   Though Justin Thomas struggled today with a 2-over par round.

Tell Tale Sign

Is this an important week to win?  Take a look at this stat.  Justin Thomas (2017), Rory McIlroy (2016), Henrik Stenson (2013) and Vijay Singh (2008) all won the Dell Technologies Championship and FedExCup title in the same year.

Both Chris Kirk and Beau Hossler finished Friday at 4-under , just two strokes out of the lead.

Both Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods sit at 1+over after day one.  Both largely had disappointing days although at this point not out of it going into the rare Saturday round two.

Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau both are in striking distance at 2-under.  At one point, Koepka was 1+over but was able to rebound.  Tony Finau just continues to play consistent golf and hang around the leaderboard.

Don’t look now but Bubba Watson is going in the wrong direction in recent weeks.

Patrick Reed sits at even par though his gave his hovering in neutral. Another player I outlined in our preview post was Billy Horschel.  Unfortunately for him, he finished today 5+over and later he would withdrawal with a Sinus Infection.
