A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier Classic Coverage Presented by VisitWheelingWV.com.
This week on the PGA Tour, the players will be stopping at West Virginia’s most well-known and prestigious resort, The Greenbrier. We will see some of the best players in the world take dead aim on the resort’s Old White TPC course.
We will see seven of the World’s top 35 players in this weeks event. That list includes:
- Bubba Watson #13
- Phil Mickelson #20
- Webb Simpson #21,
- Xander Schauffele #24
- Brian Harman #26
- Tony Finau #31
- Kevin Kisner #33
For Phil Mickelson, this will be the first event since his controversial U.S. Open and apology just days later. Phil is also serving as the Greenbrier Classic PGA Ambassador.
All seven of the past champions are returning to play this week including the reigning champion Xander Schauffele. The other past champions include Danny Lee, Angel Cabrera, Jonas Blixt, Ted Potter Jr, Scott Stallings, and the inaugural winner Stuart Appleby.
Since 2010, the site has missed hosting the event only once and that was because of the tragic flooding in 2016. The damage was so substantial the event was cancelled.
There were still four spots up for grabs and those were determined earlier today at The Cobb Course at Glade Springs. The qualifying tournament was hosted by the TriState PGA, The PGA of America’s local Chapter.
Here are those results.
- TJ Vogel, Hollywood Fl. 6-under
- Wes Homan, Beastville OH. 5-under
- Logan Logadich, Canton OH. 5-under
- Blake Taylor, Atkinson NC. 5-under
