The 41st Ryder Cup is finally upon us!!!  The bi-annual competition between the United Stated and Europe starts tomorrow morning at Hazeltine National in Chaska, MN outside Minneapolis.  Team USA looks to put a stop the the 3 match winning streak Team Europe is currently on and bring the Ryder  Cup back to American soil.  Captain Davis Love III feels he has assembled the best team the US has fielded possibly ever.  The American golf fans certainly hope so.  He may need it to be just that to get the win for the red, white and blue.

The European squad is led by team captain Darren Clarke who was a pretty good Ryder Cup player himself.  As Captain Love thinks his team is really good, Clarke reminded everyone at a press conference earlier in the week that his team is pretty good too.  Even sporting six first timers, he points out that Team Europe boasts the reigning Masters champ in Danny Willett, the winner of The Open, in Henrik Stenson and the Tour Champion and FedEx Cup champ, in Rory McIlroy.

The next three days will be filled with intense competition coupled with frenzied fans and hopefully some amazing golf shots.  The drama will be high along with the expectations for the Americans to get the Cup back.  The Europeans have not only won the last three matches they have won seven of the last nine Ryder Cups.  It has not been pretty for Team USA.  So what are keys for the US winning?

img_0566All the pressure is on Captain Love’s team as they desperately want to win this year.  Obviously getting off to a good start on Friday morning in the foursome matches is key.  This tough alternate shot format has not been kind to Team USA historically.  If they can reverse their fortunes and at least be even at the end of the morning, heading into the fourball matches in the afternoon that will be huge for the confidence of the team.

The afternoon fourball sessions should play in the favor of the big hitting Americans.  Better-ball allows Team USA to be aggressive and shot for birdies and take advantage of their overall team length.  Davis Love III has said the course will be set up for birdies.  It needs to be because the Americans need to make routine birdies.  The Europeans always do (that’s why they win) Phil Mickelson and the boys need to pour the birdies in early and often to build the confidence needed to overtake Team Europe.

We fully expect Patrick Reed to be a star again in the 41st Ryder Cup just like he was in his debut at Gleneagles in 2014 where he and  partner Jordan Speith went 3-0-1.  Reeds fire and emotional play will be on full display in front of the home crowd at Hazeltine.  Dustin Johnson will continue his amazing play in 2016 for one more week to help lead the charge.  Captain’s pick Ryan Moore will make DL3 happy he picked him.  11-time Ryder Cupper, Phil Mickelson will be a solid point getter in what is probably his last Ryder Cup as a player.

We see Team USA winning the 41st Ryder Cup by a slim margin.  15-13 will be the final score.  Just for fun we will also predict that Jordan Spieth will earn the clinching point in his Sunday Singles match.  USA! USA! USA!
