What’s wrong with Rory McIlroy? Nothing.
This has been the topic of discussion since the end of the first round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Rory shot an unspectacular 1-over par on Thursday, coming off his spectacular win at the Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow.
McIlroy went on to shot 75 (+3) on Friday and missed the cut at this week’s BMW PGA Championship. So what in the world is wrong with the No.1 ranked player in the world? Like we said before…nothing is wrong.
He is simply tired. He’s worn out! He is in the midst of a 5 week stretch of golf that has a lot of miles attached to it. Plain and simple. He needs to get some rest.
He is the defending champ at Wentworth and that is the only reason he was in the field in the first place. It was his driver that was letting him down time and time again. When that is happening to a man who was absolutely murdering his driver for weeks….he is tired. And that is ok.
The next tourney on the list for Rory is the Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation. He can go home and see his parents. Get some home cooking from his mom and recharge his battery. He will be fine.
There are a few very big tournaments coming up that Rory will want to be primed and ready for. He will need to be since his comments about winning multiple majors again in 2015.
So take it easy. If you are a fan of McIlroy it is ok. Don’t jump off the wagon. He will be back in form sooner than you think and ready to win again.
